Metronomy - ‘The Bay’    Directed by David Wilson

The second video from Metronomy’s masterpiece album ‘The English Riviera’ has arrived.

Shot in Torquay, the hometown of singer Joe Mount who said that he wanted to re-create the Will Smith video of ‘Miami’. Its a corker, have a look for yourself. Still can’t stop listening to this album.

Cults - ‘Abducted’

This catchy tune comes from a film student duo in New York, Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion who go by the name of Cults. It follows in the vain of Best Boast and Vivian Girls who paved the way for the bittersweet and innocence of youth girl-like vocals drenched in sumptuous rhythms.

Will definitely be giving the album a spin.

The track is taken from their new EP, which is also titled ‘Civilisation’ and is released on June 6.

The video, which is heavily loaded with CGI, features a large number of bison running through an arid desert, with Brazil’s famous Christ The Redeemer statue superimposed in the background.

The Kills - ‘Blood Pressures Short film’

Ok, so it’s been just over a month since The Kills released their 4th studio album “Blood Pressure” which has found its rightful place as one of my most listened to albums the year, so far.

Following the single “Satellite” The Kills, in their usual artistic fashion, have put out an honest short film, expressing their feelings towards the album with some stripped down versions of the new songs.

It’s definitely worth a watch, check it out.

FICTION.. New Single ‘Parakeets’

Fiction - ‘Parakeets’  (Off Modern Records)

‘Parakeets’
is the new single to be released by the rising popular London outfit. It is another prime example of their individuality and craft of short and sharp oblique pop. Their unconventional stand up drums and the switching and swapping of instruments makes for an energetic and exciting spectacle. If you haven’t caught them yet live, we insist you do. They are appearing at this years London Stag & Dagger Festival.

‘Parakeets’  is available on 6th June. You can hear it now by streaming it as well as the B-side ‘Let The Day Perish’ over on the myspace via the link below:

Metronomy - ‘The Look’  (English Riviera)

Absolutely adore this song, and the new album ‘English Riviera’. ‘Heartbreaker’ was a big favorite from their previous album ‘Nights Out’ , but this may have pinched it. It is accompanied by a tweely animated video. Even the album artwork could not be more perfect. If you haven’t heard the new album I highly suggest you part with your money for it.

Tom Vek - ‘A Chore’

We can all rejoice as after a six year absence from the music scene and his much loved debut album ‘We Have Sound’, the temporarily lost genius of Tom Vek returns. He makes his long and overdue return with ‘A Chore’.

It is the first single taken from his highly anticipated album ‘Leisure Seizure’. It undoubtedly contains his identifiable blend of electronic rock and beat, accompanied by its retro 60’s television show and low budget styled video.

With quite a cult following he is sure to make a big impact again on the music scene and the door has been firmly left open. In the meantime let us reminisce over his dancefloor masterpeice ‘I Aint Saying My Goodbyes’.
